5 Best Yoga Studios in Baltimore

Yoga is for Everyone

I started practicing yoga regularly about 7 years ago. Initially, I was intimidated. I didn’t know all of the postures, I wasn’t (and am still not) flexible, and being in the studio with other people who seem to be flowing with the yoga instructor in perfect sync made me self-conscious. But after attending yoga classes more regularly, I learned that yoga is for everyone! Its purpose is a mind-body connection. To focus on breathing and being fully present in the moment. I continue to practice in a local Baltimore yoga studio at least once a week. Yoga has become an important part of my wellness practice, so I am happy to share with you my 5 favorite studios in the Baltimore Metro area.

#1- Yoga Union Baltimore

Yoga Union Baltimore is my current yoga studio. It is located in the Woodberry neighborhood of Baltimore City. My favorite thing about this studio is the instructors. Prior to taking classes at Yoga Union, I was a regular student at Baltimore Yoga Works, which closed its doors during COVID, and hasn’t reopened. Many of the teachers from Yoga Works are now instructors at Yoga Union. I also love that the studio has multiple levels of classes, and has $6 community classes on 4 days of the week, making yoga financially accessible for everyone.

#2- Bamboo Moves

Bamboo Moves Yoga Studio is located in the Locust Point neighborhood of Baltimore City. I love that the studio has classes for all levels, including prenatal yoga and meditation classes. For only $89 a month, you have access to unlimited classes.

#3- Bikram Yoga Works Mt. Vernon

Bikram yoga was invented in the 1970s. It amplifies the practice of yoga using heat, which helps muscles to stretch more easily. I have done Bikram a handful of times, and I can say that it’s a great workout! Bikram Yoga Works has locations in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Here in Baltimore, Bikram Yoga Works is located in the Mount Vernon neighborhood of Baltimore City.

#4- Aluma Yoga

Aluma Yoga is a woman-owned studio with locations in Cockeysville and Mount Washington. ‘Aluma’ is the ancient Sanskrit word for fire, and the classes offered at this studio will surely have you building the heat. This yoga studio was voted Best in Baltimore for 2023 and has an extensive list of classes that will impress even the most experienced yogis.

#5- Yoga on York

Yoga on York is located in Towson. This studio has all levels of yoga classes, including meditation. I also love that the website for the studio has multiple prerecorded classes, as well as live-streaming of their in-person classes, so that you can stay on track with your yoga practice even if you can’t make it to the studio in person.
